Dragons are one of the most popular ancient mythical creatures that most civilizations have in common. Whether it’s in North America, Europe, or Asia, dragons have been thought to exist for many different reasons. Depending on the culture dragons have represented very different things. In Europe dragons were thought to be evil and were often a monster, whereas in Asia they were celebrated for their wisdom and good fortune.
Kids will love this dragon project because each dragon will be so unique, and it all starts with an organic shape. Then kids will add line and pattern using different weights of markers and pens. It makes for the perfect gift for a friend, or to use for your own favorite reads!

How to Draw a Winter Dragon
Organic shapes are the key here.
Using bookmark sized paper, choose two colors. Use one to draw the organic shape snaking down the paper.
Add those claws.
Use the other color to draw antlers.
Use metallic paint markers to add the whiskers and organic shapes for the fins and flaps. (Anyone know if there’s a technical word for this?)
Add a snowflake using white and the antler color.
Go back in with different thicknesses of black and outline your dragon. Use a thinner marker for the inside patterns and along those fins and flaps.
Make sure to give your dragon eyes and nostrils so it can breathe!
Finishing up!
Add some stylized Chinese clouds to the background and some glitter. You can add some washi tape around the edges too.
These make the perfect gift for friends and family all year long.
