Little Pumpkin Art Project | Fall Art Project for Kids

There’s just no denying it… pumpkins are cute!

There’s something about those orange-colored gourds that makes people smile, whether it’s the nostalgia of fall seasons gone by, or the fact that they just look cheerful sitting in a lumpy pile.

And if a pumpkin itself is pleasing, what could be better than a fall pumpkin picture book? Do you have a favorite?

For us, it’s hard to choose, but we do love Little Pumpkin, a story that follows the growth of a pumpkin throughout its life cycle through gorgeous and scientific pages!

Whatever your pumpkin book of choice may be, pair it with this quick, adorable art project for a perfect taste of fall. Grab paper and scissors, and let’s take a trip to the patch!

What you'll need:

  • Orange and green paper
  • Pencil
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Little Pumpkin Art Project Instructions

Fold orange paper in half and cut out a pumpkin that will be symmetrical when opened up. Add an expression of your choice.

Color in the stem, and add curved lines along the pumpkin to give the illusion of form.

On half of your green paper, draw and cut out a spiral for your vine.

Glue your pumpkin down on green paper, and then glue one end of the spiral to the stem.

Unravel your vine and place it around your pumpkin. Glue it down in 2-3 places to secure it well.

Decorate the ground with crayon.

Cut out pumpkin vine leaf shapes, adding details with crayons. Arrange and glue near the vine.

Personalize your pumpkin by adding bugs, flowers, worms, grass or whatever your wish! You could even give your pumpkin a costume!
