Ever wonder where leprechauns hide all that gold?
Spoiler alert: It’s not just at the end of a rainbow! Those little tricksters need a cozy hideout, and what better place than a tree trunk? In this fun and imaginative art project bursting with color, kids will create a Lucky Leprechaun House Art Project—create a tiny home nestled inside a tree, complete with a secret flap to reveal the treasures (or mischief) hidden inside!
St. Patrick’s Day is all about magic, mystery, and a little bit of mischief—just like art! Creativity helps kids develop problem-solving skills, express themselves, and, let’s be honest, have a blast. Plus, what’s more fun than imagining the tiny world of a leprechaun? So grab some paper, markers, and a sprinkle of luck—let’s make some enchanted artwork!

What you'll need:
- Pencil
- 9×12 Sulphite Paper
- Scissors
- Crayons
- Washable Markers
- Water cup
- Paintbrush
- Sharpie
- Glue Stick
- Small piece of white paper (for stash)
Lucky Leprechaun House Art Project Instructions
First, draw the tree for your leprechaun house. Draw the trunk and roots, the add a door, windows, and more details like hinges and a door knocker.
Add a fancy roof above the door with a pattern of your choice.
After your tree is complete, draw details around it. Add a walkway with paving stones, a light post, and curled clovers on the side of the tree.
If you’ve drawn in pencil, outline in sharpie.

Optional: add a flap door to hide your leprechaun’s stash!
Cut the door you drew on three sides, and fold it open.
Draw a stash on a separate piece of white paper and glue it to the back of the paper you drew on.

Now it’s time to add color!
Using washable markers, add lines and places of color.
Then, using crayons, add spots of color that will pop, like windows or clovers.
Use water and a paintbrush to spread the washable marker around. This will give a dreamy, magical feel to your piece!
