Lunar New Year Rabbit Instructions
Red and gold are the most traditional and lucky Lunar New Year colors. Although I use white for contrast, some cultures find it unlucky and you may wish to stick with red and gold alone!
Start by painting an oval for the body, and a circle that overlaps it for the head. Angle the nose out slightly.
Paint longer ovals for the ears, and also for a long bottom foot.
Add a tiny foot just above it.
Add a tail.
Dip the brush in red and paint around the rabbit. Have fun experimenting with red and white blending on the brush and on the paper.
Paint eyes, a nose, and a mouth on the rabbit.
Then use the remaining paint leftover to create designs. I chose floral patterns!
Don’t forget to add the same motifs in the rabbit to the background. You might also want to add a line of black or red around the edges as a frame.
When you’re finished, lightly paint black around the rabbit to help with contrast.
The top is a teacher sample, and on the bottom is a 7 year old, and a 10 year old.
