Today we decided to do a little art in the park. We headed to our local state park, which has a great creek for wading, swimming, and searching for wildlife, and by the time we set up our picnic table, 6 more kids and a couple of moms had joined my three girls and me. We used the Tiny Turtles project and learned a little about sea turtles, too. It was a lot of fun and so much easier than I’d anticipated, and it was so neat to see how people joined in. I know how relaxing and stress relieving art has become for me personally since starting our Glitterbombers membership last year, and it was fun to get to share that with others. We will definitely do this again!
We are LOVING everything so far. We've been starting our school days with art almost every single day and it has been a complete game changer for us. My girls (6 &9) love art so much, but I have seriously neglected the subject as it's just so time consuming to try to find projects and also I just didn't know how to go about teaching art. Soul Sparklettes has made it so incredibly easy to find things they love and things that tie into our curriculum. We came from torchlight and the recommendations for each week have been amazing! I am so, SO thankful for this program.
As a child, I spent hours drawing in my bedroom. I illustrated the characters, where they lived, what they wore.
As soon as I had kids, I immediately started hosting art-themed play dates and teaching other homeschoolers. Homeschoolers told me that teaching art felt out of their reach and that they weren’t welcomed in other art teaching communities. Art teachers told me that they were tired of the same old lessons, and they were feeling burnt out and uninspired.
So I set out to change all of that. I wanted projects that were kid-approved: dragons, pirates, and aliens – as well as taught a robust art curriculum. So after failing to find what I wanted, I founded Soul Sparklettes Art and The Glitter Bomb® with a single mission – to inspire and empower anyone who teaches art to kids – 700 a day, or only 1 at the dining table.
Now I run Soul Sparklettes Art along with my business partner Jenny Bassett, an art teacher in New York. I also have a team of the most incredible women at my back – meet them on the “Our Team” page.
Our projects can be done for ALL ages of kids, PreK-12th! Even adults love our projects and our projects in our memberships include differentiation to make projects easier – OR harder.
